MINI RECHARGED

ELECTRIFYING THE CLASSIC MINI.

In the true spirit of circular economy, sustainable driving fun has now been made possible in a classic car. Our MINI Recharged project takes an original Mini and breathes new life into it with an all-electric motor. So it's out with the old fuel, in with the new, electric cool.

NECESSITY. THE MOTHER OF TRANSFORMATION.

The project pays homage to the iconic work of Sir Alec Issigonis, the creator of the first Mini, whose concept of minimum fuel consumption and maximum creative use of space was a response to the oil crisis of 1959. Today, in the midst of a climate and energy crisis, this concept is more relevant than ever.

STILL DARING TO BE DIFFERENT.

Following the positive response to a one-off, electrified classic Mini at the New York Auto Show in 2018, a team at the MINI plant in Oxford started a side project to produce more. It really took off and now the MINI Recharged project is transforming classic petrol models into all-electric vehicles and breathing new life into them.

STILL THE ORIGINAL. JUST ALL-ELECTRIC AND MORE REFINED.

The electric motor generates a continuous output of up to 90 kW and accelerates the classic Mini from zero to 100 km/h in approximately nine seconds. Its high-voltage battery can be charged with an output of up to 6.6 kW and enables a range of around 160 km. In addition, every electrified classic Mini from MINI Recharged is furnished with the characteristic central instrument cluster which now displays the drive temperature, selected gear, range and speed.

LAKWENA MACIVER + PAUL SMITH x MINI RECHARGED.

A perfect symbiosis of yesterday, today and tomorrow – MINI invited London-based artist Lakwena Maciver and fashion designer Sir Paul Smith to explore and apply their creative inspiration to transform a MINI Recharged into their unique works of art. The results are a celebration of heritage, culture and contemporary, sustainable mobility.
